4th EUMeTrain Marine Course

4th EUMeTrain Marine Course

March to May 2019 / Online, Moodle

EUMeTrain is preparing the 4th edition of the Marine Course. The course will be conducted online and in asynchronous mode. A Moodle platform will be used for this purpose. The course is primarily designed for marine forecasters, but other meteorologists are invited to participate.

The course aims to improve the quality of marine safety warnings and nowcasting in Europe, through better use of satellite and model data. It will be run between late March and May, 2019.

The 2019 course will cover:

  • Identification of potentially dangerous conditions over the ocean.
  • Scatterometers and Altimeter products — advantages and limitations.
  • Forecasting extreme weather conditions.
  • Forecasting ocean waves.

The 4th EUMeTrain Marine Course will be supported by experts from KNMI, ECMWF, NOAA and EUMETSAT.

Details on the program and registrations will soon be available on http://www.eumetrain.org/
