Automatic lidars and state-of-the-art ceilometers measure continuously cloud base height and aerosol profiles. 

Since 2013, E-PROFILE is working on developing an homogeneous dataset that can be easily used by the scientific community. 
Measurements from 280 stations from 22 countries are currently available. Data are processed and collected in near real-time. The network is continuously integrating new instruments and the aim is to integrate most of the instruments in Europe (around 700 instruments).

The instruments are calibrated using algorithms developed in the framework of TO-PROF. The scientific terms used in E-PROFILE are defined in the glossary.
