The tasks of the Secretariat
The basic task of the Secretariat is to support the work of the Assembly and of its Chairman. This entails the following:

  • to organise the flow of information between Council and Programmes, necessary for the monitoring of Programmes,
  • to be a permanent point of contact for the Programmes (as support of the Chairman of the Assembly),
  • to assist Members upon request in preparing Programme proposals, in particular for standardising as far as possible the contractual framework of the Programmes,
  • to follow the workings of the EC, and bodies such as the EEA, so as to establish the significance of their activities and rules to EIG EUMETNET Programmes, and the opportunities they present to EIG EUMETNET Members. Findings and recommendations are to be presented to Members,
  • when so authorized by council, to facilitate discussions between EIG EUMETNET and the EC, and bodies such as the EEA, on matters relating to EIG EUMETNET Programmes,
  • to alert EIG EUMETNET Members to funding opportunities for EIG EUMETNET Programmes,
  • to take a proactive role in monitoring the progress of Programmes between Assembly meetings,

  • to act as directed by the Chairman in other tasks, e.g. for drafting reports, liaison activities, etc...
  • to present a yearly report of activities.
