SURFMAR  (Surface Marine)         

The objectives :

The objective of the Surface Marine Programme is to coordinate, optimise and progressively integrate the activities for surface observations over the sea within the EUCOS Operational framework. The Programme is divided into two stages :

Stage l will be to formulate an optimum overall surface marine network design and establish a suitable framework to implement and coordinate operational surface marine networks
Stage 2 will be to implement the network design based on the monitoring of the performances obtained and in the light of the results gained during the first two years of stage 1.
 
Planned tasks :
  •  To provide requirements in the domain with particular attention to the sensitive areas
  •  To increase the coordination among the operators of VOS and buoys
  •  To establish a closer collaboration with EGOS activities and ensure links with international organisations and groups.
  •  To work in close liaison with the EUCOS Programme and Operation Managers.
 
Organisation :
Current phase of the Surface Marine Observations started on 1st January 2007 and it will last for five years.
The Responsible Member for the Programme is Météo-France.
The Programme Manager is Mr Pierre Blouch
